REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a
Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting ) (02A, Lifting equipment).
a
Remove:
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the engine undertray.
a
Drain:
- the cooling system (see 19A , Cooling , Cooling
system: Draining - Refilling , page 19A-16 ) ,
- the engine, if necessary (see 10A , Engine and
cylinder block assembly , Engine oil: Draining -
Refilling , page 10A-100 ) ,
- the refrigerant circuit using refrigerant charging
station (see Refrigerant circuit: Draining - Fill-
ing ) (62A, Air conditioning),
- the gearbox (see Manual gearbox oils: Draining -
Filling ) (21A, Manual gearbox).

Remove:
- the engine cover,
- the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting )
(80A, Battery).

Disconnect the oil vapour rebreathing pipe from the
intake distributor.
Special tooling required
Ms. 583 Pipe clamps.
Mot. 1448 Remote operation pliers for
hose clips.
Mot. 1390 Support for removal - refitting
of engine - gearbox assembly

power-assisted steering
high pressure pipe
union 21 N.m
power-assisted steering
high pressure pipe
bracket nut 8 N.m
power-assisted steering
high pressure pipe
bracket bolt 8 N.m
"expansion valve - com-
pressor" connecting
pipe union bolt on the
compressor 8 N.m
"condenser - compres-
sor" connecting pipe
union bolt on the com-
pressor 8 N.m
IMPORTANT
Wear protective gloves during the operation.
WARNING
To prevent moisture from entering the system,
place plugs on the cold loop components which
are open to the air.
