REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a
Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting ) (02A, Lifting equipment).
a
Remove the front engine cover.
a
Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Re-
fitting ) (80A, Battery).
a
Remove:
- the front right-hand wheel (see Wheel: Removal -
Refitting ) (35A, Wheels and tyres),
- the front right-hand wheel arch liner (see Front
wheel arch liner: Removal - Refitting ) (55A, Ex-
terior protection),
- the accessories belt (see 11A , Top and front of
engine , Accessories belt: Removal - Refitting ,
page 11A-13 ) ,
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the engine undertray.

Remove
- the bolts ( 1 ) from the lower engine tie-bar,
- the lower engine tie-bar,
- the air filter unit (see 12A , Fuel mixture , Air filter
unit: Removal - Refitting , page 12A-13 ) ,
- the crankshaft accessories pulley (see 11A , Top
and front of engine , Crankshaft accessories
pulley: Removal - Refitting , page 11A-33 ) ,
- the right-hand suspended engine mounting (see
19D , Engine mounting , Right-hand suspended
engine mounting: Removal - Refitting , page
19D-51 ) ,
- the timing belt (see 11A , Top and front of engine ,
Timing belt: Removal - Refitting , page 11A-50 ) .
Special tooling required
Mot. 799-01 Timing gear wheel immobil-
iser.
Mot. 1525 Gear extractor for tapered
hub injection pump.
Mot. 1768 Injection pump pulley extrac-
tion claws.
Equipment required
offset spanner
Diagnostic tool
Tightening torques
m
lower engine tie-bar
bolts 190 N.m
IMPORTANT
To avoid all risk of damage to the systems, apply
the safety and cleanliness instructions and opera-
tion recommendations before carrying out any
repair:

Precautions for the repair , page 13B-1 ) ,
- (see Vehicle: Precautions for the repair ) (01D,
Mechanical introduction).
WARNING
Do not remove the blanking plugs from each com-
ponent until the last moment.
Also, do not remove the components from their
packaging until they are to be fitted to the vehicle.
