STARTING - CHARGING
Alternator pulley: Removal - Refitting

REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a
Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting ) (02A, Lifting equipment).
a
Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Re-
fitting ) (80A, Battery).
a
Remove:
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the engine undertray,
- the front right-hand wheel (see Wheel: Removal -
Refitting ) (35A, Wheels and tyres),
- the front right-hand wheel arch liner (see Front
wheel arch liner: Removal - Refitting ) (55A, Ex-
terior protection),
- the lower engine tie-bars (see 1 9 D , Engine
mounting , Lower engine tie-bar: Removal - Re-
fitting , page 19D-85 ) ,
- the right-hand suspended engine mounting (see
19D , Engine mounting , Right-hand suspended
engine mounting: Removal - Refitting , page
19D-51 ) ,
- the accessories belt (see 11A , Top and front of
engine , Accessories belt: Removal - Refitting ,
page 11A-13 ) ,
- the alternator (see 16A , Starting - Charging , Al-
ternator: Removal - Refitting , page 16A-1 ) .
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
1 - Removing the alternator pulley using a
pneumatic or electric wrench
a
Place the alternator in a vice fitted with jaws.
a
Remove the alternator pulley cover ( 1 ) .
Special tooling required
Mot. 1732 Kit for replacing the alterna-
tor idler pulleys.
Mot. 1832 Set of hexagonal sockets (10
male and female) for refitting
the alternator pulley
Equipment required
pneumatic or electric wrench
Tightening torques
