DIESEL INJECTION
High pressure pump: Removal - Refitting

Fit tool (Mot. 1768) ( 10 ) on the tool (Mot. 1525) ( 11 )
.
a
Remove the end piece ( 12 ) from the tool (Mot. 1525)
( 11 ) .
a
Fit the tool (Mot. 1525) fitted with the tool (Mot.
1768) on the high pressure pump pulley.
a
Protect the contact zones between the tools (Mot.
1525) , (Mot. 1768) and the high pressure pump pul-
ley.
a
Extract the high pressure pump pulley.
a
A damaged high pressure pump pulley must always
be replaced.
b - Refitting the high pressure pump pulley
a
Place the new high pressure pump in a vice with
jaws, securing it at the lower mounting on the high
pressure pump pulley side.
a
Refit the high pressure pump pulley.
a
Immobilise the high pressure pump pulley using a 32
mm offset spanner .
a
Torque tighten the high pressure pump pulley nut
(70 N.m) .
a
Remove the blanking plug from the opening of:
- the high pressure pump,
- the union of the exhaust fuel injector solenoid valve
supply pipe.
a
Connect the union of the exhaust fuel injector sole-
noid valve supply pipe onto the high pressure pump.
a
Refit the high pressure pump protector.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a
Refit the high pressure pump.
a
Torque tighten the high pressure pump bolts (23
N.m) .
III - FINAL OPERATION
a
Remove the blanking plugs from the opening of:
- the high pressure pump,
- the diesel injector fuel return rail union.
a
Connect the diesel injector fuel return rail union on
the high pressure pump.
a
Remove the blanking plugs from the opening of:
- the high pressure pump,
- from the fuel supply pipe union.
a
Connect the fuel supply pipe union to the high pres-
sure pump.
a
Refit the inner timing cover.
a
Fit the alternator in place.
a
Refit the alternator upper bolt.
a
Torque tighten the alternator bolts (25 N.m) .
a
Refit the alternator protector.
a
Refit:
- the timing belt (see 11A , Top and front of engine ,
Timing belt: Removal - Refitting , page 11A-50 ) ,
- the right-hand suspended engine mounting (see
19D , Engine mounting , Right-hand suspended
engine mounting: Removal - Refitting , page
19D-51 ) ,
- the crankshaft accessories pulley (see 11A , Top
and front of engine , Crankshaft accessories
pulley: Removal - Refitting , page 11A-33 ) ,
- the engine undertray,
- the accessories belt (see 11A , Top and front of
engine , Accessories belt: Removal - Refitting ,
page 11A-13 ) ,

Note:
Be sure not to mark the high pressure pump pul-
ley when extracting it using the
(Mot. 1525)
equipped with the (Mot. 1768) .
