Front seatback frame: Removal - Refitting

REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a
Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting ) (02A, Lifting equipment).
a
Disconnect the battery (see Battery : Removal -
Refitting ) (80A, Battery).
a
Remove:
- the compete front seat (see 75A , Front seat fra-
mes and mechanisms , Complete front seat: Re-
moval - Refitting , page 75A-15 ) ,
- the front seatback trim (see 77A , Front seat trim ,
Front seatback trim: Removal - Refitting , page
77A-3 ) ,
- the lower seat covers (see 77A , Front seat trim ,
Front seat lower cover: Removal - Refitting ,
page 77A-8 ) .
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED

Remove:
- the bolts ( 1 ) ,
- the front seatback frame ( 2 ) .
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
Replacement of the front seatback frame
a
When replacing the front seatback frame, it may be
necessary to swap the seatback adjustment mecha-
nism, because only left-hand frames are available
from the
Parts Department .
a
Remove:
- clip ( 3 ) ,
- the front seatback adjustment mechanism ( 4 ) .
a
Reverse the position of the stem ( 5 ) .
a
Always replace the clip of the front seatback frame
(
3 ) .
a
Refit on the opposite side:
- the front seatback adjustment mechanism ( 4 ) ,
- a new clip ( 3 ) .
a
Always replace the front seatback frame bolts.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a
Refit the front seatback frame (2) .
a
Torque tighten new front seatback frame bolts (46
N.m) (1) .
Tightening torques

new front seatback
frame bolts 46 N.m
