REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a
Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting ) (02A, Lifting equipment).

Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Re-
fitting ) (80A, Battery).

Remove:
- the engine cover,
- the front wheels (see Wheel: Removal - Refitting )
(35A, Wheels and tyres),
- the front wheel arch liners (see Front wheel arch
liner: Removal - Refitting ) (55A, Exterior protec-
tion),
- the front bumper (see Front bumper: Removal -
Refitting ) (55A, Exterior protection),
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the engine undertray,
- the headlights (see Headlight: Removal - Refit-
ting ) (80B, Headlights),
- the bonnet catch (see Bonnet lock: Removal -
Refitting ) (52A, Non-side opening element mecha-
nisms),
- the audible warning (see Audible warning: Re-
moval - Refitting ) (82B, Horn),
- the front end panel (see Front end panel: Remov-
al - Refitting ) (42A, Upper front structure),
- the injection computer (see Petrol injection com-
puter: Removal - Refitting ) (17B, Petrol injection),

Drain:
- the cooling system (see Cooling system: Drain-
ing - Refilling ) (19A, Cooling).
- the automatic gearbox (see 23A , Automatic gear-

Drain the refrigerant circuit using a refrigerant
charging station (see Refrigerant circuit: Drain-
ing - Filling ) (62A, Air conditioning).

Remove:
- the « cooling radiator - condenser - fan assembly »
assembly (see Cooling radiator: Removal - Refit-
ting ) (19A Cooling),
- the front right-hand driveshaft (see 29A , Drive-
shafts , Front right-hand driveshaft: Removal -
Refitting , page 29A-7 ) ,
- the front left-hand driveshaft (see 29A , Drive-
shafts , Front left-hand driveshaft: Removal -
Refitting , page 29A-1 ) ,
- the battery disconnection unit (see Battery dis-
connection unit: Removal - Refitting ) (80A, Bat-
tery),
- the protection and switching unit (see Protection
and Switching Unit: Removal - Refitting ) (87G,
Engine compartment connection unit),
- the radiator mounting cross member (see Radiator
mounting cross member: Removal - Refitting )
(41A, Front lower structure),
Special tooling required
Mot. 1448 Remote operation pliers for
hose clips.
Mot. 1390 Support for removal - refitting

mountings of the gear-
box bell housing (1) 44 N.m
mountings of the gear-
box bell housing (2) 62 N.m
converter nuts 32 N.m
protection plate bolt 7 N.m
WARNING
Consult the device's operating manual to avoid
incorrect use.
WARNING
In order to avoid any refrigerant leaks, do not
damage (deform, twist, etc.) the pipe.
