DIESEL INJECTION
High pressure pipe between rail and injector: Removal - Refitting

Refit the new seal to the intercooler air inlet pipe on
the turbocharger side.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a
Remove the blanking plugs.
a
Fit the high pressure pipes between the rail and the
injectors.
a
Position:
- the high pressure pipe olives between the rail and
the injectors in the injector rail tapers,
- the high pressure pipe olives between the rail and
the injectors in the injector tapers.
a
Fit without tightening the nuts on the high pressure
pipes between the rail and the injectors, starting with
the nuts on the injector rail side.
a
Torque tighten using the tool, part number 77 11 223
721 :
- the nuts on the high pressure pipes between
the rail and the injectors on the injector rail side
(32 N.m)
.
- the nuts on the high pressure pipes between
the rail and the injectors on the injector side (32
N.m)
,
III - FINAL OPERATION
a
Refit:
- the diesel injector fuel return rail (see 13B , Diesel
injection , Diesel injector fuel return rail: Re-
moval - Refitting , page 13B-108 ) ,
- the oil separator (see 11A , Top and front of en-
gine , Oil decanter: Removal - Refitting , page
11A-307 ) .

Temporarily refit the intercooler air inlet pipe.
a
Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refit-
ting ) (80A, Battery).
a
Start the engine.
a
Accelerate several times under no load.
a
Check for any fuel leaks.
a
Remove the intercooler inlet air pipe.
a
Refit the injector rail protector (see 13B , Diesel in-
jection , Injector rail protector: Removal - Refit-
ting , page 13B-126 ) .
a
Connect the intercooler air inlet pipe on the turbo-
charger.
a
Refit the bolts of the intercooler air inlet pipe on the
air intake distributor.
a
Tighten the bolts of the intercooler air inlet pipe on
the air intake distributor.
a
Fit the cooling radiator top hose onto the intercooler
air inlet pipe.
a
Refit the nut of the cooling radiator top hose on the
intercooler air inlet pipe.
a
Tighten the nut of the cooling radiator top hose on
the intercooler air inlet pipe.
a
Refit the engine cover.

Note:
Check that the seal of the intercooler air inlet
pipe on the turbocharger side is fitted the correct
way round.
Note:
Check that the intercooler air inlet pipe is cor-
rectly clipped onto the turbocharger.
