rising edge of the trigger input. As the internal time base of the Series Signal Analyzer is different from that of
the signal being measured, the input of timer will drift during the sync holdoff of timer. The timer offset
determines the actual time of occurrence of the trigger event, when the timer trigger has occurred, the Series
Signal Analyzer will not carry out the measurement until the trigger delay time if the trigger delay is on-state.
Fig. 4.3 Sequence Relation of Timer Trigger and Timing Sync
The parameters of timer trigger including [Sync Source], [Period], [Offset], [

Holdoff], [Trig Delay], etc.
Can be set in such steps of pressing the
【
Trig
】
key on the front panel, entering [Periodic Timer
▶
] and then
using the number keys, Up/Down key or knob.
The sync source can be selected as external trigger 1, external trigger 2 or burst signal trigger. With the menu
of [Sync Source], the trigger level and sync source polarity can be set through the [External 1], [External 2]
and [RF Burst]. If the sync source is set as ―Positive‖, namely [Trig Slope Pos Neg], it means the sync of the
rising edge of the timer output and sync source signal. If the sync source is set as ―Negative‖, namely [Trig
Slope Pos Neg], it means the sync of the falling edge of the timer output and sync source signal. When the
trigger level of the sync source is set, the trigger level in the corresponding trigger mode menu will change at
the same time.
Caution
The timer offset
When the Series Signal Analyzer sets the parameters of timer trigger, it will first reset the internal timer to
configure the timing parameters, default the timer offset as 0 s and then start the timer. When you modify
[Offset] with the menu, the Series Signal Analyzer just modifies the time of occurrence of the trigger event
instead of resetting or restarting the timer.

】
The section mainly describes the parameters corresponding to the

】
key vary greatly with different
measurement modes and measurement functions.
