8. Specifications and test methods
8.5 Performance characteristics test
656
14)
Determine errors in results of all test items in B2 of the 4051 Auxiliary Form. If all test data falls within
the range of error, ―compliant‖ should be noted in the 4051 Record Sheet, otherwise it should be
considered as noncompliant.
8.5.1.1.5 Frequency readout accuracy
a)
Test items
The frequency readout accuracy is used to reflect the closeness between the frequency measurement indicated
value and the actual value. During sweeping of the analyzer, the frequency measurement indicated value is
affected by the reference frequency, the sweep width, the frequency bandwidth and the LO residual frequency
modulation. An input signal of a given frequency can be used to test the marker of the analyzer in order to
read out the accuracy.
b)
Test equipment
Synthesized signal generator (E8257D/1464 is recommended)
c)
Test steps
1)
Connect the test equipment according to Fig. 2 with the signal output interface of the signal generator
connected to the signal input interface of the analyzer.
2)
Reset the signal generator and set the output frequency as 1.5 GHz, the power level as -10 dBm and the
RF output as on.
3)
Reset 4051 and set the center frequency as 1.5 GHz and the frequency span as relevant value indicated in
the 4051 Record Sheet.
4)
Execute Marker until relevant marker value changes to the center frequency set value and then execute
Marker Delta.
5)
Execute Peak Search and record the frequency difference of the peak marker readout as measurement
result in relevant test item of the 4051 Record Sheet.
6)
Set the analyzer frequency span according to the frequency span value in the 4051 Record Sheet and
repeat step 5.
7)
Close all markers and repeat step 2 ~ 6 for all combinations of frequency and frequency span in relevant
test items in the 4051 Record Sheet.
8.5.1.1.6 Marker count
a)
Test items
A signal generator output of a given frequency is used as the standard and the error between the analyzer
marker count value and the signal generator output as the marker count accuracy.
b)
Test equipment
Synthesized signal generator (E8257D/1464 is recommended)
c)
Test steps
1)
Connect the test equipment according to Fig. 8.4 with the 10MHz output interface of the analyzer
connected to the 10MHz input interface of the synthesized signal generator and the RF output of the
synthesized signal generator connected to the signal input interface of the analyzer.
2)
Reset 4051, set the frequency span as 1 MHz, turn on Marker Count and set the gate time as 5 s.
3)
Check the resolution of the analyzer marker count and record as 0.001 Hz if the test data display meet the
requirement of 0.001 Hz. otherwise consider it as incompliant.
