c)
Test steps
TOI distortion (10 MHz ~ 200 MHz)
1)
Set the power meter frequency as 50 MHz after zeroing and calibration.
2)
Connect the instrument according to solid lines in Fig. 8.16.
Fig. 8.16 Schematic diagram of TOI distortion test (10 MHz ~ 4 GHz)
3)
Set the frequency of synthesized signal generator#1 as 50 MHz, the amplitude as +5 dBm and the
amplitude step as 0.05 dB.
4)
Reset synthesized signal generato#2 and set its frequency as 50.05 MHz, its power as -110 dBm and the
RF output as off.
5)
Reset 4051 and set as follows:
Center frequency: 50MHz
Frequency step: 50kHz
Span: 200Hz
Reference level -10 dBm
Attenuation 0 dB
6)
Adjust the output amplitude of synthesized signal generator#1 until the the power meter reading is closest
to -10 dBm.
7)
Remove the power sensor from the RF directional coupler. Connect the RF directional coupler via the
adapter directly to the input of the 4051 analyzer.
8)
Set the 4051 analyzer as Peak Search and Marker Reference. Wait for the sweep operation to complete.
Execute Marker Delta and Frequency Step Once.
9)
Turn on the RF output of synthesized signal generator #2 and set the power as -10 dBm.
10)
Set the 4051 analyzer as Peak Search.
11)
Adjust the power level of synthesized signal generator#1 until the the Marker Delta reading of the 4051
analyzer is closest to 0 dBm.
12)
Set the 4051 analyzer as Marker Delta and the center frequency as step down twice. Wait for the sweep
operation to complete. Set Video Average as 5 times and execute Single Sweep. Wait until Video Average
