signal/spectrum analyzer (if no frequency standard is available, optional signal generator with frequency
of high stability can be used).
2)
Connect the low frequency output of the synthesized signal generator to the RF input of the 4051
signal/spectrum analyzer as indicated by solid lines in Fig. 1.
Fig. 8.1 Schematic diagram of frequency range test
3)
Set the synthesized signal generator as follows: turn on AM modulation, set AM modulation amplitude as
80% and modulation rate as 3 Hz; turn on low frequency output amplitude and set it as 100 mVp.
4)
Reset the analyzer and set as frequency analysis mode; set input/output coupling mode as DC, center
frequency as the nominal lower frequency limit of 3 Hz, frequency span of 10 Hz; press Peak after
completion of each test; when the marker correctly indicates the peak signal, there is no obvious dither in
the marker amplitude value and the signal is clear distinguishable, record the center frequency as the
lower measurement value. Records made at any other time will not meet relevant requirements (if the
signal peak is at the zero frequency, zero frequency auto adjustment is required).
5)
Change the connections in the test to connect the RF output of the synthesized signal generator to the RF
input of the 4051 signal/spectrum analyzer as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 1.
6)
Set the output frequency of the synthesized signal generator as the nominal upper frequency limit of the
analyzer to be tested, output power as -10 dBm, RF output on/off as on and modulation function as off.
7)
Set the analyzer center frequency as the nominal upper frequency limit and frequency span as 20 kHz;
press Peak Search and when the marker correctly indicates the peak signal, there is no obvious dither in
the marker amplitude value and the signal is clear distinguishable, record the center frequency as the
upper measurement value of the frequency range. Records made at any other time will not meet relevant
requirements.
8)
Record measurement results in the Record Sheet of Performance Characteristics of 4051 Series
Signal/Spectrum Analyzer (hereinafter referred to as the ―4051 Record Sheet‖).
9)
Set 4051
(
except 4051L
)
input/output coupling mode as AC, repeat step 3 ~ 8, where the frequency
lower limit test signal comes from the RF output of the signal generator.
d)
Test records and data processing
10)
Record measurement results in the 4051 Record Sheet.
8.5.1.1.2 Band division
a)
Test items
Band division of 4051 depends on the combination of LO working scope (3 GHz ~ 10 GHz) and octave with
reference to the principles of band division of ITU under IEE.
