according to relevant test items in the 4051 Auxiliary Form.

Calculate the marker count accuracy Δf according to the formula (9) and record it in B3 of the 4051
Auxiliary Form.

Determine values in results of all test items in B3 of the 4051 Auxiliary Form. If all results fall within the
range of error, records in the 4051 Record Sheet meet relevant requirements, otherwise not.
8.5.1.1.7 Frequency span accuracy
a)
Test items
Set frequency difference of two synthesized signal generator as 0.8*SPAN signal of the signal analyzer and
the center frequency of the signal analyzer as the median of output frequencies of these two signal generators.
Use the Marker function measure frequency difference of such two signals. Calculate and record the
percentage error between the measured marker difference and the frequency span. Use the same frequency as
reference for two signal generators and the signal analyzer.
Note: It is allowed to use only one signal generator for test. Firstly, set the center frequency and the frequency
span of the signal analyzer; set the signal generator with the frequency value of #1 signal generator; set
Marker Delta for the signal analyzer and set it as the frequency value of #2 signal generator; search for the
peak and record current marker difference frequency value as the measurement value.

Test equipment
E8257D or 1464 is recommended for synthesized signal generator #1.
E8257D or 1464 power divider is recommended for synthesized signal generator #2.

Test steps

Connect the instrument as shown in Fig. 8.5, reset the 4051 analyzer and set it with the frequency
reference provided by two synthesized signal generators.
