
3 Introduction to Use
3.1 Preparations before Operation

Step 1.
Press
【
System

key on the front panel to enter the system menu;
Step 2.
Press [Self-Test] key in the soft menu of the front panel to enter Self-Test interface;
Step 3.
Select the item to be tested and press [Start] soft menu to start the test. Check the test result. If all
items are passed, it means the instrument is working properly; if certain item fails the test, it means
the instrument is not working properly in someway. In this case, please contact our service
consultation center at the service consultation hotline in the Manual. We will rapidly repair or replace
the instrument, depending on the actual situation.
After the above two steps are done, the instrument will be ready for operation.

Functional verification
After self-calibration, the instrument should be set as follows:
Step 1.
Press

Input/Output

key on the front panel to pop up the input/output setting soft menu, press [Cal
Port] and [500 MHz] to select 500 MHz calibration signal and press [Input
Port
RF
CAL
] soft key to
select the input interface for calibration. At such time, the internal calibration signal of the instrument
is connected to the RF input interface;
Step 2.
Observe the test result on the screen. If 500 MHz calibration signal can be observed, it means the
instrument is working properly; if not, it means the instrument is not working properly in someway.

Manual. We will rapidly repair or replace the instrument, depending on the actual situation;
Step 3.
Press [Cal Port], [4800 MHz] to select 4800 MHz calibration signal;
Step 4.
Observe the test result on the screen. If 4800 MHz calibration signal can be observed, it means the
instrument is working properly; if not, it means the instrument is not working properly in someway.

Manual. We will rapidly repair or replace the instrument, depending on the actual situation;

In this chapter, operating system and its configuration and maintenance methods of the 4051 Series
Signal/Spectrum Analyzer are explained Please refer to the following precautions for the operating system of
the Series Signal Analyzer to ensure normal operation of software functions of the instrument.

3.1.2.1 Description of instrument software
The 4051 Series Signal/Spectrum Analyzer uses Window 7 operating system as its host software and such
operating system has been installed and configured according to performance requirements of the Series
Signal Analyzer.
3.1.2.2 Windows 7 usage
The following operations will be available with the administrator account:
Installation of third-part software;
Configuration of network and printer;
Reading and writing of any files on the hard disk;
