3 Introduction to Use
3.1 Preparations before Operation

Windows 7 system will automatically detect the USB keyboard connected to the instrument with default
language as ―Chinese (China)- Simplified Chinese - US Keyboard‖ and set keyboard properties via ―Start >
Control Panel > Clock, Language and Region > Keyboard and Language‖.

Connect mouse
Windows 7 system will automatically detect the mouse connected to the instrument and set mouse properties
via ―Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Equipment and Printer > Mouse‖.

Connect printer
Windows control panel can be used to configure the printer. Externally connected USB mouse and keyboard
can be used to make printer configuration easier. If a new printer is required, only the drive program for such
printer is needed. The manufacturer of the printer will provide such drive installer. The installer can be
installed via externally connected USB CD-ROM.

Configure GPIB
The user may need to modify the GPIB address in system building. The default GPIB address of the Series
Signal Analyzer is 18. Change the GPIB address as follows:

[Interface Config>>] [GPIB Address] to enter the interface shown in Fig. 3.9. Modify the
GPIB address in the [Local GPIB address] input box through the number keys on the front panel.

Configure network
a)
Change host name
The host name (computer name) of the 4051 Series Signal/Spectrum Analyzer has be preset as ―4051-PC‖
before delivery from the factory. To avoid repetition of network name, if one network is connected to more
than one analyzer, users may be free to change the host name. The host name should be changed as follows:
