4.2.7 Drift signal measurement
4.2.7.1 Definition of drift signal
The signal to be measured is a drift signal, the center frequency should be frequently changed at different time
when measuring with the analyzer in order to observe properly. If the signal tracking function of the analyzer
is used, the maker peak will always be displayed at the center frequency of the analyzer to facilitate
measurement.
4.2.7.2 Available functions of Series Signal Analyzer
The Section describes how to measure the drift signal, where the amplitude track and occupied bandwidth will
be observed by the use of signal/ spectrum analyzer tracking, tracking and max hold functions for the signal
drift.
4.2.7.3 Measurement of frequency drift for signal generator
The Series Signal Analyzer can measure the short-term and long-term stability of the signal generator, and
display the max peak amplitude and frequency drift of the input signal via the max hold function signal of
track/ spectrum analyzer. The max hold function of track may be used to measure the occupied bandwidth of
signal.
This example will maintain the drift signal to display in the center position by the signal tracking of Series
Signal Analyzer, and capture the drift signal via the max hold of the analyzer.
Step 1. connect RF output of the signal generator to the input port of the analyzer.
Step 2.set the signal of the signal generator with output frequency of 300 MHz and amplitude of -
20dBm, and open its RF output.
Step 3. set the analyzer as spectrum analysis mode:
