Running a Sample Plate

You will be notified and the system will perform a gel volume re-estimation if you
attempt to run a plate when the total cartridge gel volume is less than 1.5 mL
more
than the minimum amount needed to process the plate.
If the system determines that there might not be enough gel to run the plate, it will
perform a 2-step re-estimation process automatically.
In the first step, the system will “home” the gel pump and the message in Figure 83
will appear.

In the second step, the Gel Pump plunger will be engaged and the system will
accurately determine the gel volume.
The dialog box in Figure 84 will be displayed.

If the gel volume is greater that 1.5 mL more than the minimum amount needed to
process the plate, the plate will run and the system will not re-estimate the gel volume.
Gel Re-Estimation Procedure
1. Launch the Run module to run a sample plate.
2. Select
Run | Start Sample Plate
to process the sample plate.
You can view the gel cartridge volume by clicking the
Life
tab on the Status
Monitor.
3. If the system determines that the gel cartridge volume is less than the volume
needed to safely process the plate, you will be presented with the two
re-estimation dialog boxes before the system starts running the sample plate.
