Turning Cell Coordinates On or Off
To view or hide cell coordinates, select
View | Cell Coordinates
from the
menu. (When checked, coordinates are displayed. When unchecked, coordinates
are not displayed.)
Using Find
To search for text in the sample plate, select
Edit | Find
and enter the desired text in
the
Search what
text field. Click
Find Next
to find the next occurrence of the
entered text.
Select
Down
to search down each column, beginning at the highlighted or selected
cell. Select
Up
to search up each column, beginning at the highlighted or selected cell.
Check
Match whole word only
to locate text that is flanked by spaces. If you do
not select “Match whole word only,” the system will find the text, even if it is part of
another word.
Check
Match case
to find the entered text exactly the way you type it into the field.
If you do not select “Match case,” the system will find all occurrences of the text,
regardless of case.
Check
Use wildcards
to include the following wildcard characters in your search:
The system will support the following wildcard combinations: [!]*,
*?, and ?[!]?. The system does not support the combination *[!].
Using Replace
To search and replace text in the sample plate, select
Edit | Replace
and enter the desired
text in the
Find what
text field. Enter the text you wish to replace with in the
Replace with
text field.
Click
Find Next
to find the next occurrence of the entered text. Click
Replace
to replace
the highlighted text with the text in the Replace with field. Click
Replace All
to automati-
cally replace all occurrences of the search text with the replace text.
Wildcard
Description
“*”
The asterisk is used to denote any letter(s) before or after the
entered text.
“?”
The question mark is used to represent any single letter.
“[!]”
The exclamation point within brackets is used to make the query
negative. Enter the letter following the “!” within the brackets,
and the system will find anything that is not the entered text. For
example, [!A] will find any string that does not start with A.
