(Optional) For access control purposes, enter the name or IP address of the domain for which this
network region will be responsible (i.e., authoritative) in the
Home Domain
field on the IP
Network Region screen. Note this will appear in the "From:" header of any SIP messages.
5
On the Signaling Group screen:
a
Enter sip in the
Group Type
field . A new screen for SIP groups will be displayed.
b
Verify that the
Transport Method
field displays the default value of tls.
c
Ensure the
Trunk Group for Channel Selection
field is set to the default of BLANK.
d
Enter the valid name of the CLAN at the near (local) end of the SIP trunk signaling group
in the
Near-end Node Name
field. For the processor CLAN in the S8300 and S8700
media servers, the value of this entry is typically procr.
e
Ensure the default TLS port value of 5061 is set in the
Near-end Listen Port
field.
f
Enter the name of the node you administered for the SIP Proxy Server in step 3 in the
Far-end Node Name
field.
g
Enter the default TLS port value of 5061 in the
Far-end Listen Port
field.
h
If you want the SIP Proxy Server you administered in step 3 to use the codec set and/or
parameters specified for an IP network region different from that of the LAN interface,
enter the SIP proxy’s region in the
Far-end Network Region
field.
i
If the SIP Proxy Server you administered in step 3 is responsible (i.e., authoritative) for an
IP domain that is different from that of the LAN interface, enter the SIP proxy’s domain
name in the
Far-end Domain
field. Typically, if an enterprise is using the proxy of a SIP
service provider, than this field would contain the domain name for that service provider.
j
Ensure that the
DTMF over IP
field is set to the default value of rtp-payload.
k
Ensure that the
Direct IP-IP Audio Connections?
and
IP Audio Hairpinning?
fields are
both set to n for no. (The initial release does not support shuffling of SIP trunks.)
6
On the Trunk Group screen:
a
Enter sip in the
Group Type
field . A new screen for SIP groups will be displayed.
b
Depending on your needs related to call-detail recording, enter y for yes or n for no in the
CDR Reports
field. Note that very large numbers of CDR reports may be generated by
SIP calling.
c
Enter the number of the SIP signaling group you previously administered in the
Signaling
Group
field.
d
Enter a value of 0-255 for the number of SIP trunks belonging to this group in the
Number
of Members
field.
e
Complete the Trunk Group screen, including assigning it members starting on page 4, as
needed.
f
Repeat 6a-e for each SIP trunk group you wish to assign, up to the 1000-trunk limit.
7
The final step before you can make SIP calls from endpoint devices connected to Avaya
Communication Manager is to administer UDP/AAR/ARS routing properly in Communication
Manager. Using AAR for example, ensure that the
Auto Alternate Routing (AAR) Access Code
field is set to the proper value on the Feature Access Code screen. Then administer both the AAR
Digit Analysis Table and the Private Numbering and/or Public/Unknown Numbering screens to
ensure that dialed strings of digits will be interpreted correctly and the resulting calls routed
appropriately using the SIP trunks which you administered in step 6. For more details on
administering routing, see the Administrator’s Guide for Avaya Communication Manager R2.0
user documentation.
