Administrator’s Guide for Avaya Communication Manager

Only one attendant code can be administered. You can administer it on the Dial Plan Analysis screen or
on the Feature Access Code (FAC) screen, but not both.
Announcements
Places within Communication Manager only allow one administration for a particular announcement.
With a multiple QSIG/DCS network, multiple switches could handle a particular announcements in
multiple languages. With a single distributed network, the ability to play that announcement in multiple
languages was lost.
Announcement extensions are now stored as digit strings and routed through Uniform Dial Plan (UDP)
processing, similar to dialing an extension. By dialing a shortened extension for an announcement, this
feature prepends the location prefix onto the extension. With the location prefix and the extension, the
announcement plays to the caller in the proper language.
NOTE:
It is important that the administrator not only administer the shortend extension, but also
administer the announcements on the Announcements/Audio Sources screen, using the
correct type settings for the application..
Announcement Administration
If a customer has 100 locations – 90 speak English while the remaining 10 speak other non-English
languages – the customer must administer 100 different announcements.

10 announcements need to be adminstered in the non-English languages
•
90 announcements need to be adminstered in English
All 100 announcements need to be administered on the Announcements screen, even though 90 of them
might indeed be the same English announcement.
Invalid announcements
If the following announcements are invalid, intercept treatment is provided.

DID/Tie/Intercept announcement
•
Controlled Outward Restriction Intercept Treatment
•
Controlled Termination Restriction (Do Not Disturb)
•
Controlled Station to Station Restriction
•
Controlled Toll Restriction Intercept Treatment
•
Invalid Number Dialed Intercept Treatment
If the following announcements are invalid, these announcements are not played (they are skipped).
