One-Step Recording via Audix
This features allows a station user to press one button and start/end the recording of an in-progress
conversation using the AUDIX system recording facility.
Detailed description
Proper administration for this feature to work includes the following:
•
Assigning audix-rec to a telephone feature button and entering a valid AUDIX hunt group
extension number on the
Station
screen.
•
Choosing which, if any, parties will hear the AUDIX ready-to-record indication tone and if/how
often they will hear a recording-in-progress alerting tone on the
Feature-Related System
Parameters
screen.
To use this feature, a station user must be active on a call, then press the Audix Record button to record
the conversation. The user is then the recording initiator. Upon the button push, the LED light for the
feature button on the initiator’s station begins to flash. After a few seconds, the LED light will be
illuminated steadily. This indicates that the AUDIX recording facility is ready and beginning to record
the conversation. The internal users served by the same Communication Manager of stations with the
display equipment can notice that the number of parties in the call increments by 1. At this point,
depending on administration, a ready indication tone will play to all the parties on the call, the initiator
only, or none of the parties. After enough of the conversation has been recorded, the initiator can then
stop the recording by pressing the button a second time while the LED light is still illuminated. The LED
light for the feature button on the initiator’s station goes off. Internal users with the display equipment can
again notice that the number of parties in the call decrements by 1. The call remains up.
Certain countries/states/localities require that a distinctive recorder tone be used to alert all parties in the
call when the conversation is being recorded. If administrators choose to play the ready indication tone to
all parties in the call, they also will have the option to play a periodic tone during the conversation being
recorded.
Considerations
This feature depends on the AUDIX facility to perform its function. Therefore, proper administration of
AUDIX should be verified; AUDIX must work for each station user before this feature is applied to the
station. Specifically, the administrator needs to set the appropriate Mailbox Size and Voice Mail Message
Maximum Length on the AUDIX system for the user.
When the "audix-rec" button is administered, it requires the user’s AUDIX hunt group extension number
along with it. The extension field on this screen will actually accept any hunt group extension number. It
is the administrator’s responsibility to enter the correct AUDIX hunt group extension number to ensure
this feature works as designed.
