Statuses
Sockets are end-points to communication over the Internet. Much like PBX phone systems, where the IP address
is the phone number and the port is the extension. Every paired (connected) socket has a source IP/port and a
destination IP/port.
There are three tables in the Socket Statuses dialog window: TCP Only, Conn Track and Socket Statuses All.
The TCP Only table displays the sockets that are connection-oriented (Also known as stream sockets).
Conn Track is a connection tracker that displays more thorough information about the current socket connections.
Connection tracking allows the kernel to keep track of all logical network connections or sessions, and thereby
relate all of the packets which may make up that connection. NAT relies on this information to translate all related
packets in the same way, and IPTABLES can use this information to act as a stateful firewall.
The Socket Statuses All table displays the sockets that are considered connection-oriented and connectionless
(also known as datagram sockets).
