Configuration of a Cascade
8.4.1
Configuration Using CASCADE Button
A cascade is configured once. The instruments each "remember" their respective role
(Master, Slave#) after being switched off and retain their state until they are explicitly
reset and reconfigured.
The individual instruments are always configured using two elements on the front of
the R&S
UPP: the "CASCADE/LAN RESET" button and the associated status LED.
When cabling a cascade, it is already implicitly defined which instrument will assume
the role of master and which instruments can function as slaves.
Each R&S
UPP that detects a clock signal at its "CLOCK IN" BNC socket on the rear
of the instrument automatically assumes the role of a "standalone slave", whereas
each instrument without a reference clock signal initially functions as a "standalone
device".
Only R&S
UPP800 instruments (audio analyzer, 8 channels) with installed software
option R&S
UPP
‑
K800 can assume the role of a master device.
8.4.1.1
Configuration of Master Device
The programming routine using the "CASCADE/LAN RESET" button is visualized
using a constellation diagram. A flashing signal sequence at the "CASCADE LED"
informs the user of the respective instrument state. For a list of the states with the cor-
responding signal sequences, see
