The Positive-TRansition part acts as an transition filter. On transition of a bit of the
CONDition part from 0 to 1, the associated PTR bit, decides whether the EVENt bit
is set to 1.
–
PTR bit =1: the EVENt bit is set.
–
PTR bit = 0: the EVENt bit is not set.
This part can be written and read. Reading does not change its contents.
●
NTRansition
The Negative-TRansition part also works as a transition filter. On transition of a bit
of the CONDition part from 1 to 0, the associated NTR bit, decides whether the
EVENt is set to 1.
–
NTR bit =1: the EVENt bit is set.
–
NTR bit = 0: the EVENt bit is not set.
This part can be written and read. Reading does not change its contents.
●
EVENt
The EVENt part indicates whether an event has taken place since the last read out.
It is the memory of the CONDition part. It only indicates events passed through the
transition filters. The EVENt part is continuously updated by the device. This part is
read-only. Reading clears its contents. This part is often equated with the overall
register.
●
ENABle
The ENABle determines whether the associated EVENt bit contributes to the total
bit (see below). Each bit of the EVENt part is ANDed to the corresponding ENABle
bit ('&' symbol). The results of all logical operations of this part are ORed (symbol
'+') and passed on to the summary bit.
ENABle Bit = 0: the associated EVENt bit does not contribute to the total bit
ENABle Bit = 1: if the associated EVENt bit is 1, the total bit is likewise set to 1.
This part can be written and read as required. Reading does not change its con-
tents.
Summary bit
As stated above, the summary bit for each register is derived from the EVENt and
ENABle parts. The result is then entered in a bit of the CONDition part of the higher-
level register. The device automatically generates the summary bit for each register.
This enables an event, e.g. an overrange, to lead to a service request through all hier-
archy levels.
