Every slave that has never been configured before is initially in the
SLAVE_STAND-
ALONE
state.
Pressing the CASCADE button once causes the slave to change to the
SLAVE_SHOW_STATUS
state in which it visualizes its state (not cascaded, Slave#x)
by means of a flashing signal sequence at the "CASCADE LED". After a timeout, the
instrument reverts to its initial state.
Pressing the button starts the programming mode. In the
PROG_MODE_SLAVE_#X
state, the position of the slave within the cascade is determined by repeatedly pressing
the button. When the desired position has been reached and after a timeout, the slave
changes to the
CONNECTION_REQUEST
state, in which the connection to the master
is set up and the master is informed of the desired position within the cascade.
If the slave could not be integrated in the cascade at position #X, the state machine
changes to an
ERROR
state and assumes its initial state again.
If the master successfully receives the acknowledge signal, the slave assumes the
SLAVE_CASCADED
state and "remembers" its position even after the instrument has
been switched off, until the user decides to have the master reset the cascade.
The user can have the current state of a cascaded slave displayed at any time by
pressing the button.
8.4.1.4
State Coding of Slave Device
The "CASCADE LED" shows the current state of an instrument. A distinction is made
between master and slave devices.
