Maintenance and Troubleshooting
This section gives a brief overview of printer maintenance and troubleshooting.
Instructions for installation are given in
. For a detailed
description of the printer components and instructions on changing the ink
cartridges or ribbon, and loading paper, refer to the manuals that accompany the
printer.
Cleaning
Every six months (or after about 300 hours of operation) turn the printer OFF and
use a clean, dry cloth to dust the area around the carriage shaft and platen. Be sure
to remove any loose particles of paper. Do not use solvents or strong detergents on
the cabinet.
Troubleshooting
Refer to the printer manuals for a list of the most common printer problems and
how to solve them. If the problem is not resolved, contact the Abbott Hematology
Customer Support Center for assistance.
If, during routine system operation, the message
PRINTER UNAVAILABLE
is
displayed on the bulletin line, check to see that the printer cable is securely
connected to the Analyzer, the printer power switch is turned ON, and that the
printer status is on-line. Press the
[PRINT]
key. If the message is still displayed, turn
the printer power off, wait about five seconds, turn the power on again and press
the
[PRINT]
key. If the message is still displayed, there may be an internal printer
error. Contact the Abbott Hematology Customer Support Center for assistance.
