9. TROUBLESHOOTING
Listed below are the possible causes and remedies of the typical
troubles that you may often encounter in the flame analysis.
If your trouble is not covered in this table, the instrument may be
faulty. In such a case, contact our service engineer.

Check and Remedy
Flame not ignited
Burner slot clogged
Check the conditions of the flame and burner
slot, and clean the burner slot.
The [Start] button
is shown grayed
out.
In the Manual mode, all of
the set sample have been
measured, or no sample
was set.
Add samples by clicking the [Edit Sample
Table] (Add) button.
Set sample in the Method window.
Desired sensitivity
not attainable
Burner slot clogged
Check the conditions of the flame and burner
slot, and clean the burner slot.
Nebulizer clogged
Aspirate purified water, and check the
degree of aspiration. Clean the nebulizer.
Wavelength setting improper
(wavelength deviation,
improper wavelength/slit
width/lamp current)
Check the displayed lamp spectrum, and
then enter a proper numeric value.
Carry out condition setting again.
Wrong lamp (element)
Check the lamp house, and replace the lamp
with a proper one.
Burner height maladjusted
Check the burner height, and adjust it
properly.
Decrease in remaining
amount of acetylene gas
Check the pressure of the acetylene gas
cylinder, and replace it with a new one.
Atomizing temperature
insufficient for refractory
elements
Use the high-temperature burner.
Sample viscosity too high
Aspirate the sample, and check the degree
of aspiration. Decrease the viscosity of the
sample by means of dilution or
decomposition.
Interference due to a
coexisting substance in
sample
Perform a comparison check with the
sensitivity of the standard solution.
Decrease the concentration of the coexisting
substance by means of dilution or extraction.
For some elements, add a matrix modifier.
Poor repeatability
Burner slot clogged
Check the conditions of the flame and burner
slot, and clean the burner slot.
Delay time too short
Aspirate the sample, and check a time
period to be taken until the signal becomes
stable. Set up a longer delay time.
