1.3 Supply of Gases

(1) Prepare the gas which matches the heating program to be

used.

Gas Type

Alternate

Mixture of argon + oxygen (5 to 10%)



Alternate gas is usable only when the optional alternate

gas unit is provided.

NOTES

: 1. When the primary pressure of argon gas cylinder

falls close to 0.7 MPa (7 kgf/cm

2

, 100 psi), the

cylinder should be replaced with a new one. If
gas falls short of an adequate level during the
course of analytical operation, an error is detected
and measurement is interrupted.

2. When ordering argon gas, specify “dry argon gas

(purity 99.95% or higher)”.    Argon gas having a
lower purity may contain moisture.
The moisture contained in argon gas will be
heated at a high temperature and react with the
graphite cuvette, so the service life of the cuvette
may shorten.

(2) Open the main valve of each gas cylinder.

(3) Set the secondary pressure (supply pressure) of each gas

as follows.
