Indication Cause
Remedy
C
Absorbance of unknown
sample is at least 5%
higher than the maximum
absorbance of standard
sample.
Analyst should judge the allowable absorbance range
above the upper limit of working curve, that the
absorbance of an unknown sample may reach.
When necessary, change concentration of the unknown
sample or standard sample and measure again.
B
Reference signal is higher
than 1.5.
Background absorption is exceeding the correctable
range. Make sure sample does not cause bumping in
the drying stage and change ashing temperature or
dilute the sample, referring to Graphite Furnace
Atomization Analysis Guide.
A
Sample signal is higher
than 1.5.
The linear range of general working curve may be
exceeded, though this depends on element.
So, dilute the sample and measure again.
S
In the peak width method,
the width of interest has
not been found (not been
determined), and the peak
height has been used as
an alternative
Change the specification of peak width and measure
again.
If peak is too steep, its width may not be determinable
uniformly. In this case, arrange a condition for
broadening the peak such as reduction of atomizing
temperature or current control of atomization.
F
Concentration could not be
determined.
The working curve is not a continuously increasing
function (two concentration values correspond to one
absorbance value). Make sure the order of standard
samples is correct and the concentrations are
appropriate. Then, carry out measurement again.
O The
concentration
exceeds the allowable
numeric range for display.
Input concentration correction again so that the
corrected concentration value will not become extremely
large. Or dilute a sample and measure again.
H
The background correction
has not been performed
properly.
Carry out measurement again.
P
Sample bumping detection
has been activated.
Change settings such as reducing the temperature in the
drying stage or extending the time of increased
temperature, etc.
The error marks are indicated in the following order of priorities: H > E > A > B > X > S > R > F > L > C

[Operator], [Analysis Name] and [Comment] which is input or is
not input in the Method window can be corrected or input here.
(1) Click the [Parameter List] button on the toolbar or
[Parameter List] in the [Edit] menu, and a dialog box will
open.
(2) Initially, the window of [Measurement Mode] tab is open.
Make your entries for [Operator], [Analysis Name] and/or
[Comment], and click the [OK] button.
