Switching on and testing the supply voltage
.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Overview
This section describes the procedure for activating the voltage supply lines via the
PI/100 units. Please observe the order of the steps described below.
NOTE:
If “breaker-less” PIs (PI/100 NOCB) are used, the system must be switched on
or off via an external equipment (e.g. Power Distribution Panel (PDP) with circuit
breakers). More information is given in section
“Breaker-less PIs (PI/100 NOCB)”
Required equipment
Prior to performing this task, the following equipment must be available:
1. Multimeter
2. Small pen or small Phillips screwdriver.
Prerequisites
Prior to performing this task, make sure that the circuit breakers on both PI/100 units
are in the
OFF
position (=“O”) (see
Figure 5-1, “PI/100 switching” (p. 5-5)
Procedure
Proceed as follows to switch on and test the voltage supply lines:
.................................................................................................................................................................................................
1
Insert a 125 A fuse for each supply line into the external Battery Distribution and Fuse
Bay (BDFB). If circuit breakers are being used in the BDFB, put both of them in the
ON
position.

2
Use a multimeter to check the primary voltage at the Power Distribution Panel (PDP)
for both power supply feeders, and enter the measured values in the table provided in
chapter 6.
Use the following four pairs (multimeter connection points) for the measurement (see
Figure 4-2, “PDP connection (power input cables)” (p. 4-7)
1. –A1/rtnA1
2. –B1/rtnB1
3. –A2/rtnA2
4. –B2/rtnB2.
