Push the XC unit (protection) firmly into slot “XC P” (#10).
Result:
The “Active” LED must flash after about 20 seconds.
Troubleshooting:
If that is not the case, check that the XC unit is plugged correctly.
If that does not solve the problem, replace the XC unit (protection).

Insert the other circuit packs with the exception of the CTL protection unit into the
respective slots (one-by-one). Please observe the
“Configuration rules” (p. 5-39)
given
in the previous section!
Important!
Do not insert the packs simultaneously. Insert them one after the other,
with intervals of at least 15 seconds in between.
Result:
The “Active” LED on each inserted circuit pack must flash.
Troubleshooting:
If the “Active” LED is not flashing on some of the circuit packs,
check that the respective circuit packs are plugged correctly. If that does not solve
the problem, replace these circuit packs.
Final result
The following can be observed now:
1. The
MJ
,
MN
and
ABN
LEDs on the User Panel are on and no critical alarms are
indicated (
CR
LED should be off).
2. The “Active” LEDs of all circuit packs are flashing.
This is because the system is still in “maintenance condition” and some system
parameters have not been set. This should be ignored as they will be corrected in a
later procedure (see chapter 7, section
3. If EP51/EL36 circuit packs for DS3 port protection are inserted, a critical ONI
alarm (“ECI Mismatch Failure”) will be raised after the system parameters have
been provisioned (see chapter 7,
“Provisioning system parameters” (p. 7-13)
). This
is because the DS3 1+1 protection group is not yet provisioned. This will be done
later.
