Miscellaneous Discrete Inputs/Outputs (MDIs/MDOs)
.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Overview
Miscellaneous Discrete Inputs and Outputs allow the network provider to use the
system to monitor and control other equipment co-located with the system. For
example, an MDI can be connected to monitor a temperature sensor, and an MDO can
be connected to control a fan or generator.
The system provides 8 MDIs and 8 MDOs. All MDIs/MDOs can be configured by the
user. This means that the user can determine which entities shall be wired to the
MDIs/MDOs.
The following should be observed in general:
•
The voltage on the individual MDIs should be positive with respect to the common
pin (= pin 5) to operate properly.
•
The common pin should be connected to a voltage in the range of -40 V ... -72 V
(with respect to GND). Each MDI will be activated when it is connected to GND.
