STM-1e interface
.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Before you begin
Due to the limited cabling space within a rack it is highly recommended to use rack
extensions (see chapter 3) to be able to route the STM-1e cables properly.
If the STM-1e interface paddle boards are not yet installed, mount them in the planned
positions (see section below) by tightening the screws.
Configuration rules
The STM-1e circuit packs (EP155/EL8, CC109192252) must be located in the upper
front row of the subrack (see chapter 5, section
“Configuration rules” (p. 5-39)
). The
associated ECI/155ME8 (CC109001479, unprotected configuration) or ECI/155MP8
(CC109192260, protected configuration) interface paddle boards must be located in the
upper rear row.
In the case of electrical STM-1 port protection two EP155/EL8 circuit packs next to
each other (slot pair positions are: #21/22, #23/24, #25/26, #27/28, #32/33, #34/35,
#36/37, #38/39) and one ECI/155MP8 board at the back of the subrack must always be
used.
Cable length
The length of the STM-1e cables is site specific.
Cable types
The following STM-1e cables are available:
•
Single coax cable
•
Multi coax cable.
Single coax cable
The single coax cable (4.1 mm coax) has one straight or 45° 1.6/5.6 male connector at
the subrack side and a blunt end at the DDF side. Two cables are required for one
channel.
