e. If you are using an S8300/S8400 DVD/CD-RW drive, set the on/off switch to
On

Be sure to set the S8300/S8400 drive to
Off
when not in use.
9. Insert the Communication Manager Software Distribution CD in the drive.

Verify AC power connection to the laptop. Do not attempt to remaster the S8300
using only the laptop’s battery power.

Unplug any external Compact Flash drive that might be connected to the S8300
USB ports. The S8300 tries to read any media connected to a USB port. The
S8300 should only read the media on the CD-RW/DVD drive.
10. For an S8300B upgrade, the LED panel (above slot V1) must be reinserted together with
the S8300 circuit pack.

Insert both the LED panel and S8300 circuit pack about 1/3 of the way into the guides
The guides are in slot V1 for the S8300 and above slot V1 for the LED panel.

Push both circuit packs (together) back into the guides, gently and firmly, until the front of
each circuit pack aligns with the front of the G700.
For an S8300C upgrade, do the following:
●
Reinsert the LED panel (above slot V1) until the front of the panel aligns with the front of
the G700.
●
Insert the S8300C circuit pack into the slot V1 guides until the front of the circuit pack
aligns with the front of the G700.
11. Secure the S8300 faceplate with the thumb screws.
Tighten the thumb screws with a screw driver.

If the LED panel is not inserted all the way in, all of the status lights (on the left
side of the LED panel) will be on. If this is the case, press the LED panel all the
way in.
12. Reconnect the laptop to the services port of the new S8300B or S8300C.
