3.2.17.2.2 Dual Port
The purpose of dual port is using the RS485(PDC port on IDA8) to fulfill the redundant loop in case of
any failure with the cable connection. When detecting the failure of cable connection on one of the
PDC port, the system will automatically switch to the redundant dual port. If both cable connection
have failed, the IDA8 system will then report [Remote Offline] fault.
The wiring of PDC dual ports can only be done by connected to the correct PDC ports, see as below,
Connect the CDPM to PDC 1 port and PDC 2 port.
Connect the CDPM to PDC 3 port and PDC 4 port (IDA8C only).
Configuration:
Step 1: Go to Device Management > Machine File System > RS485 Protocol Setting window, and
choose CDPM Dual Port.
Step 2: Proceed the Drag n Drop and drag the PPM-AS icon from [Main-Device] and connect it to
the IDA8 processor with dual ports: the PDC 1 port or the PDC 3 port.
The PDC 2 port and the PDC 4 port cannot be functioned when connected to other remotes
such as DNM in the configuration layout, or this redundant dual port will be disable.
Step 3: Go to Configuration Layout, and connect the Channel A and Channel B on the PDC Input
component to the Mixer component, then connect the Mixer component to Network Paging
component. See the picture as below.
Step 4: Proceed [Compile] and [Store] action.
3.2.18 PCP
The PCP paging console is a wall-mounted heavy duty remote which is compatible with Ateis audio
processor, The PCP console interconnects over a dedicated RS485 for power, audio and data transmit.
The RS485 communication protocol with daisy-chain wiring can support up to 300m over CAT5 cable
connection.
