3.2.1.7.1 Full Redundancy
The following example is using the IDA8C and IDA8SAB units to do full redundancy.
Step 1:
o
Select one IDA8C as the primary device and the other IDA8C as the secondary device.
o
Assign the IDA8C unit as the primary unit by clicking its [...] button on Redundancy grid, then the
[Select Redundancy Device] window will pop-up.
o
Select [Hardware] tab on [Select Redundancy Device] window.
RJ45 type setting
Fiber-optic type setting
1. Current System Be Primary: Tick the checkbox to have the selected device as the primary
unit; un-tick the checkbox to have the selected device as the secondary unit.
2. Evac Input Channel: Choose which evac input channel on the rear panel of IDA8C to connect
to the RU unit, and use it as a status indication to inform the IDA8 that the system is currently
switch to the primary or secondary unit. The [Primary Active] or [Secondary Active] LED will
light up on RU unit for status indication. Note: When this evac input channel is used on
IDA8C, its evac function will be disable.
3. Contact Output Channel (for fiber-optic type or partial redundancy only): Choose which
contact output channel on the rear panel of IDA8C to connect to the RU unit, and use it to
control the primary/secondary switching action. This contact is normally open.
Normally, the switching action of primary/secondary unit is controlled by bypass output.
However, if using the fiber-optic type or partial redundancy, the bypass output will not be
available, so use contact output instead.
When this contact output channel is used on IDA8C, its function for other use will be disable.
4. Redundancy: Choose to do the redundancy with a IDA8 system which is selected from the
drop-down box.
o
Check: Click [Check] button to test and indicate if the selected IDA8 system is allowed to
do the redundancy. The result will be displayed on Status bar. See the example picture
below.
The selected IDA8 system must be the same model, the same quantity of units, and has the
same audio/telephone boards, otherwise, the [Apply] function will be disable.
