12. Manually divide this number by the number of spaces between the bebes (this number will be
10 if all bebes are visible). This is the average distance between the bebes. Make a note of
this value (approximately 213) in the Worksheet. Round the number to the nearest whole
number.
13. Press a lowercase
s
to display spacing.
14. Enter the x, y coordinates of bebe 1 (e.g. x = 37.5, y = 83.5) and record in the Worksheet. Next
enter the average distance between the bebes as calculated earlier - enter this average twice
e.g. 37.5 83.5 213 213 (be sure to include a space between each number). This tells the
system the average spacing between bebes and where you want the system to start (from
bebe 1).
15. Move the mouse to the bebe positioned to the right of number 1 and press

and enter the box size number (start at 33),
and record it in the Worksheet.
18. Press
l
(lowercase L) to draw red boxes around
each bebe.
Use the Pan and Zoom features to examine every
bebe. Ensure that a red box appears around each
bebe and that the red dot (centroid) appears
approximately in the middle of the bebe.
Note:
Bebes cannot appear outside the red boxes, nor can boxes appear outside the field of view. If
they do, exit the program and start again by running the
transgen
program and repeating
steps 14 through 18, but enter a different box size in step 17.
19. Press
f
to write the output file to C:\translations (overwriting the existing file).
20. Return to the
transgen
program and press
t
.
The system repositions the bebes into a
perfect grid and displays the bebe centroids as
blue dots.
Check all the blue dots to ensure all 11x14
appear in the field of view (blue dots do not
need to be in the red box). If not, exit the
program and start again by running the
transgen
program and reentering the
coordinates (the spacing value or origin must
change).
21. Calculate the detector spacing by dividing 5 by the average spacing (e.g. 5 ÷ 213) and make
note of this value in the Worksheet (e.g. 0.023474178) to 9 decimal places.
22. Exit the
transgen
program.
