2.3.3 Files Created During the Reconstruction Process
CORRECTED FILES
What : When the projection files are corrected, another set of VFF files is created. There is one
corrected VFF file for each original projection file.
To correct the projection files again, delete the Corrected directory and re-load the scan in the
eXplore Reconstruction Utility.
Where : The Corrected directory is located inside the scan directory.
VOLUMES
What : Reconstructed volumes are the large files that are created from the several small VFF files
in the Corrected directory. When reconstructed volumes are viewed in MicroView, they are
represented as three-dimensional images.
Volumes can be full volumes, which are given their own name, or mini volumes. All mini volumes
are saved as mini_vol.vff. If a second mini volume is created, it will overwrite the previous
mini_vol.vff. Only one mini_vol.vff will exist in the Volumes directory at one time.
Full volumes are called ScanName.vff, for example.
You should have at least 10GB of free space available on the hard drive where you are storing
volumes.
Where : The Volumes directory is located inside the scan directory.
2.3.4 Removing Unnecessary Scan Data
After you have corrected your data, you can free disk space by deleting the following files from the
scan directory:
• acq*.vff
• bright.vff
• dark.vff
• transform
After deleting these files, you will still be able to reconstruct your scan, but you will not be able to
re-correct it. DO NOT delete the files in the Corrected directory if you want to be able to reconstruct
the scan again.
