18. Once the ball has been centred, remove the Dial Indicator Mount and Precision Dial Indicator.

19. Select

Magnification

in the Motor field in the

X-Ray and Motor Controller

window and move

the ball 70mm toward the detector. This should be 2mm from the limit switch.

20. Warm up the x-rays without using the

System Warm-up

application to avoid moving the stage.

To do this, use the

X-Ray and Motor Controller

program and do the following:

a.

Set the kV field to 80

b.

Set the µA field to 10

c.

Press the

Turn X-Rays

on button

d.

Wait 2 minutes

e.

Press the

Turn X-Rays

off button

f.

Set the kV and µA field to the next value in list below, and repeat steps c to e:

- wait 2 minutes @ 80kV, 45µA

- wait 10 minutes @ 80kV, 80µA

21. Capture the image in

Fluoro

and name it

capture

.

22. Correct and unwarp the captured image using

Calibration Tools

.

Find the Geometric Centre of the Ball at Detector End:

Note:

To find the geometric centre of the ball, determine the x value on the right and left side of the ball.
Add the values together and divide by 2. To find the geometric centre as follows.

23. Use the Pan and Zoom features in

MicroView

to get the ball in the desired area of the screen.

Note:

To Pan, move the mouse while pressing Shift plus the left mouse button simultaneously. To
Zoom, move the mouse up (to magnify) or down (to zoom out) while pressing the right mouse
button.
