The enclosure that houses the I/O module must be at least 180 mm deep so that the front cover can be
opened safely.
2.3.5 Installing lightning-surge absorbers
Lightning-surge absorbers must be installed to prevent electric and electronic devices from
malfunctioning even if the power, communication, or signal line is subjected to a high-
energy disturbance such as switching or lightning surge. Normally the power line should be
provided with surge absorbers as shown below.
• Normal-type surge absorber between phases
• Common-type surge absorber between phases and ground
