For effective controlling of a rather large territory it is often impossible to
restrict oneself to install the system on one computer only. In this case the
is a necessity to install the system on several computers in different
sectors of a guarded object and connected in local network.

3.8. N
ETWORK
To create a single surveillance network, you can combine several
VideoNet
systems. This enables to transmit video/audio information and other data via
network for long distances. Computers are connected via TCP/IP.
VideoNet
system enables you to configure routing of data flows and thereby to
optimize, if necessary, usage of low-bit-rate channels.
Attention! It is strongly recommended to set up time synchronization with the
correct time server on computers connected to one surveillance network. In more
details setup of synchronization with the
correct time server is described in
3.8.2.5
section.
3.8.1. Network and computers. Introduction
Local computer
It is a computer, on which user log in the system. Local computer for an operator
is the computer, on which he is working at the moment. Local computer is bold-
faced in the computer list and has the icon, given in the heading.
Remote computer
It is all the other computers in a network. If network connection is established
with a computer, but it is not added to system configuration, the system will
know nothing about the computer. There will be no such computer in the list.
In the computer list
remote
computer has the icon, given in the heading.
You can perform the following actions with
remote
computers: to
add
, to
remove
, to
rename
, also you can configure parameters of connections between
computers. It is impossible to remove
local computer
.
Outgoing and incoming connections
Outgoing connections are a set of network connection parameters (
IP-address
or
computer name
and
port number
) for connecting
remote computer
.
Incoming connections are rules, defining possibility of connecting to local computer
(from remote computers).
