Apply grease to a new 'O'-ring

Clean the metallic face of the seal, coat the metallic

with engine oil and install the hub

Fit new wire clip

Wrap sealing tape around the plug

with one thread
remaining uncovered. Insert this plug but leave the
other one out until after testing.

Using extreme care to prevent water entering the
assembly, lower it into a tank of water. Connect
compressed air at

and apply pressure of 1.9 bar (28
lbf/in
2
). Check for air bubbles.

Remove the assembly from the tank. Dry with
compressed air. Add engine oil via plug
A
aperture.
Install plug using an appropriate pipe sealant.

Carry out steps 1 to 4 of
Idler Wheel and Recoil Unit,
Replacement.
