Configuring a VLAN as an RSPAN VLAN
Follow these steps to create a new VLAN, then configure it to be the RSPAN VLAN for the RSPAN session.

DETAILED STEPS
Purpose
Command or Action
Enables privileged EXEC mode. Enter your password if
prompted.
enable

Step 1
Enters the global configuration mode.
configure terminal

configure terminal
Step 2
Enters a VLAN ID to create a VLAN, or enters the VLAN ID
of an existing VLAN, and enters VLAN configuration mode.
The range is 2 to 1001 and 1006 to 4094.
vlan vlan-id
Example:
Switch(config)#
vlan 100
Step 3
The RSPAN VLAN cannot be VLAN 1 (the default VLAN) or
VLAN IDs 1002 through 1005 (reserved for Token Ring and
FDDI VLANs).
Configures the VLAN as an RSPAN VLAN.
remote-span
Example:
Switch(config-vlan)#
remote-span
Step 4
Returns to privileged EXEC mode.
