DETAILED STEPS
Purpose
Command or Action
Enables privileged EXEC mode. Enter your password if prompted.

Enters the global configuration mode.
configure terminal

Step 2
(Optional) Sets the password for the VTP domain. The password can
be 8 to 64 characters.
vtp password password

Step 3

Saves the secret key generated from the
password string in the nvram:vlan.dat file. If you configure a
takeover by configuring a VTP primary server, you are
prompted to reenter the password.

Directly configures the password. The secret
password must contain 32 hexadecimal characters.
Returns to privileged EXEC mode.

Verifies your entries. The output appears like this:
show vtp password

(Optional) Saves your entries in the configuration file.
