DETAILED STEPS
Purpose Command or Action
Enables privileged EXEC mode. Enter your password if
prompted. enable
Example:
Switch> enable
Step 1
Enters the global configuration mode. configure terminal
Example:

Step 2
(Optional) Sets the transmission frequency of CDP updates in
seconds. cdp timer seconds
Example:
Switch(config)# cdp timer 20
Step 3
The range is 5 to 254; the default is 60 seconds.
(Optional) Specifies the amount of time a receiving device
should hold the information sent by your device before
discarding it. cdp holdtime seconds
Example:
Switch(config)# cdp holdtime 60
Step 4
The range is 10 to 255 seconds; the default is 180 seconds.
(Optional) Configures CDP to send Version-2 advertisements. cdp advertise-v2 Step 5
