The
max-event-holdoff
values are in increments of 20 milliseconds. For example, setting a value of 5 equals 100
milliseconds.
Note: It is recommended that the reporting interval for the seqOutOfRange messages be changed from the default of 30
seconds to a number in the 1 - 5 second range.
CM Channel Reassignment for AC Power Loss
When the C4/c CMTS receives a CM-STATUS message indicating an AC Power Loss state and the message is enabled, the
C4/c CMTS initiates a battery-saving action which includes reducing the number of channels that the CM uses. If the
feature is enabled, the C4/c CMTS places the CM into a 1x1 (US/DS) channel mode to conserve CM battery power, resulting
in a partial service condition. The feature is disabled by default.
Power Loss Reports
The C4/c CMTS will implement the following battery-saving measures when a CM reports an AC Power Loss:
Identify and choose the Power Loss US channel that is common to all upstream service flows
Stop sending data on all DS channels being removed from the Receive Channel Set (RCS)
Stop granting bandwidth on all US channels being removed from the Transmit Channel Set (TCS)
Recalculate TX power
Reduce all US flows to use only the Power Loss US channel
Reduce all DS flows to use only the primary DS channel.
The C4/c CMTS will not initiate any battery-saving action for a CM reporting an AC Power Loss through a CM-STATUS
message if any of the following circumstances exist:
The feature is disabled
The CM only has one US channel in its TCS and one DS channel in its RCS
The CM reporting the AC Power Loss has US service flows that do not contain a common, unimpaired US channel to
use as the Power Loss US channel
Upstream supervision for the Power Loss US channel is not carried by the CM’s primary downstream
The CM reporting the AC Power Loss has downstream service flows that do not contain the CM’s primary DS channel
The CM has an active voice call
The AC Power Loss CM-STATUS message gets dropped for any reason
