Telnet
The C4/c CMTS supports Telnet for both local and remote configuration, however, to provide more security for remote
connections, Secure Shell (SSH) is recommended.
Secure Shell
SSH uses public-key cryptography to authenticate a remote computer and allow it to authenticate the user, when
necessary.
SSH was designed as an enhancement over Telnet and is intended to provide confidentiality, and integrity of data over an
unsecured network, such as the Internet.
Secure Shell-2
The C4/c CMTS currently uses Secure Shell version 2 (SSH-2). SSH-2 features both security and feature improvements over
previous versions of SSH.
Monitor Log Commands
The table below and the paragraphs that follow provide the CLI commands that are used to configure, and manage the
C4/c CMTS monitor logs.

Monitor Log Commands
Purpose
Command
Used to send the system logging messages of a given priority to the
telnet/SSH session by setting the logging level. The output will continue to
be routed to the session until either the logging to the monitor is disabled
or the session is disconnected.
Use the [no] option to disable delivery of all notifications to the session.
configure logging monitor <level> [no]
