PIM-SM Configuration
The previous section provided an example of setting up an IGMPv2 ASM configuration. IGMPv3 ASM clients are also
supported.
The following section contains procedures that summarize the C4/c CMTS routing configuration part of the IP Video
provisioning process for the IGMPv3 cable-macs and PIM-SM using MDF-enabled.
SSM Multicast Forwarding (PIM-SSM Alternative)
The following procedure supports SSM multicast routing using the PIM-SSM mode.
To Configure Network to Cable Data Forwarding Using PIM-SSM
1.
Enable the IGMP router/querier on the cable-mac. Default is IGMPv2:
configure interface cable-mac <mac> ip igmp
2.
Enable the IGMP router/querier on the cable-mac to IGMPv3:
configure interface cable-mac <mac> ip igmp version 3
3.
Enable multicast routing:
configure ip multicast-routing
Note: PIM can only be enabled in the SSM mode. Other PIM CLI provisioning is disallowed if multicast-routing is not
enabled.
4.
Configure PIM-SSM on the cable-mac as passive:
configure interface cable-mac <mac> ip pim sparse-mode-ssm passive
configure interface <ten>gigabitethernet <slot>/<port> ip pim sparse-mode-ssm
