CLI Modem Move via DBC
A new version of the manual modem move command can initiate hitless bonded modem moves using Dynamic Bonding
Change (DBC) which provides a way to manually move a CM to a new downstream channel-set or upstream channel-set.
The command does not support moving both simultaneously.
Only moves in the same MAC domain and fiber node combination (for example, MD-CM-SG) are supported.
To manually move a bonded CM using DBC, enter the following CLI command:
configure cable modem move <mac-addr> [downstream-channel-set-id <id>] [upstream-channel-set-id
<id>] method {broadcast-ranging | unicast-ranging |ranging | direct}
Before a bonded modem is manually moved via DBC, the following cross-checks are performed:
Has no Unsolicited Grant Services (UGS) service flows or any service flows that are dynamically created (e.g.
packetcable multimedia gates).
Has no dynamic multicast service flows, such as IP Video.
Is not under electronic surveillance.
Is not running on battery power.
The destination channel-set must be an existing channel set in the same cable-mac.
A list of the current channel sets can be viewed by entering the following CLI command:
show cable channel-sets
CLI Modem Move via Range Response
This version of the manual modem move command supports moving a CM to a different channel that may or may not be
on the same C4/c CMTS. If issued with only the us-channel-id parameter, but without the downstream frequency
identified, the CM is moved within the same platform.
configure cable modem move <mac-addr> [downstream-freq <freq>] [us-channel-id <chan>]
Where: chan is the US DOCSIS channel ID. Range = 1-255
