Adhoc Method
With the adhoc method, records are exported in the same fashion as the time method, except the session interval is
stopped when the last queried record is exported.
Exporter Address
The DOCSIS 2.0 CMTSipAddress field or the DOCSIS 3.0 CmtsIpv4Addr field in each exported IPDR record is automatically
determined when the first primary collector is selected for a session after enabling the exporter. The exporter's local IP
address used by the session's very first primary collector's TCP connection is declared the CMTSipAddress or CmtsIpv4Addr
field value, remaining until the exporter is disabled.
Collector Connectivity
Two important highlights of collector connectivity supported by the C4/c CMTS exporter are collector redundancy and
simultaneous sessions.
Redundancy
The IPDR SP specification supports the use of multiple collectors for backup redundancy. The C4/c CMTS exporter imposes
a maximum of five collectors. A priority is assigned to each collector. The highest priority collector is considered the
primary collector; all others are considered backup.
For a given IPDR session, the primary collector receives the IPDR streamed records. In the event of a detected connection
failure with the primary collector, the streaming data is redirected to the next highest priority backup collector. The
exporter resends all unacknowledged DATA messages to the new primary collector in addition to sending new DATA
messages.
When no collectors are connected to the C4/c CMTS exporter, event-triggered records are saved in a finite-sized holding
area awaiting a collector to connect, for non-adhoc sessions. Once the holding area is full, the oldest records are discarded
making room for new event-triggered records. The holding area is purged when the exporter is disabled.
