If the C4/c CMTS reboots, the TAP-MIB entries will be lost and the MD must re-establish the taps.
Configuring PC 2.0 LAES
The PC 2.0 LAES uses the TAP-MIB interface exclusively to allow the Mediation Device (MD) to remotely control the tap
sessions at the C4 CMTS.
The SNMPv3 User View is configured for the MD to have authorized access to the LAES TAP-MIB. These changes include
userids and passwords for the pktcESTapMib and the pktcESIpTapMIB to ensure access for future tap session requests.
The source IP address used in the LAES tap stream to the MD is controlled by the cadSysSourceInterfaceCableIntercept MIB
variable. This is set by the
configure cable intercept source-interface
CLI command. The source IP address used for
all SNMP LAES notifications is controlled by the cadSnmpSourceInterface MIB variable which is set in the
configure snmp-
server trapsource
CLI command.
If it is required or preferred that the source IP address is the same for the LAES tap stream and the LAES SNMP
notifications, the operator must set these two MIB variables to the same source interface.
Note: The C4 CMTS will not accept tap session requests from the MD until the Intercept source interface has been
configured.
If a tap session is already in progress when a new intercept source interface is configured, the tap will continue to use the
IPv4 address associated with the intercept source interface that was assigned when the tap sessions were created.
Configuration Guidelines
To maintain security, the following guidelines apply:
Only the tap timeout MIB object can be changed by the MD when a tap session is active.
The parameter can either be extended or reduced as necessary.
If a new timeout value is in the past, the active tap session will be immediately terminated by the C4 CMTS.
